Alma Duran
Alma Duran (b. 1994, Stockholm) is a Swedish glass artist working with sculpture and light-based installations. Rooted in traditional glassblowing, her practice expands into spatial and material investigations where glass becomes both body and threshold.
“As a glassblower, I was early drawn to wide-reaching, three-dimensional sculptures where a often central hole creates both a physical opening and a visual depth. The form becomes an expression of something beyond the visible – a point of concentration that pulls the gaze inward. My process is fluid and intuitive, yet I´m searching for a grounded expression that leads to an awareness of glass’s possibilities and a desire to infuse form with meaning.
My work consists of sculptures, functional glass, and installations where neon, light, and form often interact. The contrasts within the material – solid and airy, smooth and fractured – are amplified by the shapes and glow of neon.
Driven by the language of the material and a wish to give shape to an inner vision, I create works that invite reflection, light, and the unknown.”
